What is it? Stand Up Carolina is a campus wide campaign focused on bystander accountability and our role in preventing interpersonal violence.
Interpersonal violence includes sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking. Observant bystanders are key in preventing these.
A bystander is a peer, friend, teammate, classmate, coworker, teacher, family member, or complete stranger who observes interactions that may lead to interpersonal violence. This can be any number of situations resulting in sexual harassment, intimidation, coercion, or assault.
Where it occurs: Inappropriate and dangerous situations occur in class, hallways, dorms, at parties, sporting events, at the bar, anywhere!
The campaign’s goal: to spread awareness and empowerment throughout the University of South Carolina's campus by encouraging people to be responsible for their peers individually and collectively.
